If you’re struggling with focus, follow-through, or mental fatigue, biofeedback and brain training can help strengthen how your brain regulates attention, energy, and performance.

At Thiel Mental Health Services, we offer biofeedback and brain training in Hartford, CT and surrounding areas, helping adults improve focus, consistency, and executive functioning in a structured, measurable way.

What this can help with

You might notice:

  • Difficulty staying focused or easily getting distracted
  • Trouble following through on tasks
  • Feeling mentally exhausted or overwhelmed
  • Inconsistent productivity or burnout cycles
  • Difficulty regulating attention and energy
  • Feeling “checked out” or unable to stay engaged

What is biofeedback and brain training?

Biofeedback and brain training use real-time data to help you understand and improve how your brain functions.

Using EEG-based feedback and structured exercises, you can begin to:

  • Strengthen attention and focus
  • Improve regulation of mental energy
  • Increase consistency in performance
  • Build more reliable cognitive patterns

This is not about forcing focus—it’s about training your brain to regulate more effectively.

How the process works

Brain training is an active, structured process.

Your program includes:

  • Regular sessions using biofeedback technology
  • Real-time feedback on brain activity
  • Guided exercises to improve attention and regulation
  • Ongoing adjustments based on your progress

Over time, this helps improve how your brain sustains focus, processes information, and maintains consistency.

Who this is for

This service may be a good fit if you:

  • Have ADHD or suspect you might
  • Struggle with attention, regulation, or consistency
  • Feel like traditional approaches haven’t fully helped
  • Want a structured, measurable approach
  • Are looking to improve cognitive performance

Brain training is often used alongside ADHD therapy to support executive functioning and consistency.

Cost and program structure

This program is designed to be around 4 months long, but can be altered based on a client’s level of commitment. Any client should be dedicated to spending around 2 hours a week towards their training plan. Your training plan includes the training done with the computer, as well as your one on one with your Brain Training Coach.

You should expect to be seen in person at the Berlin Office location for your initial appointment and your coaching sessions. If you would like the ability to do your Brain Training modules from home, there is a one time fee of $300 (this includes any client who has Medicaid or Medicare insurance). The ability to do the training from home is not necessary to complete the program, but can be useful for those who may have to travel longer distances to get to the office. The cost cannot be prorated if you decide to take advantage of the at home modules after you have already started your training plan. Your brain coach is always available during your modular sessions for assistance and treatment adjustments.

Biofeedback as an additional aspect that may be included in your Brain Training. This system is designed to help individuals develop positive mental states while completing exercises. The BrainPower System utilizes an EEG devices that looks like a headband to analyze brainwaves and determine if a player is relaxed and alert. The system provides feedback in the form of a glowing brain image and BrainPower points for correct answers. The BrainPower system aims to help users develop a “Calm Happy Alert Relaxed Mental state” (C.H.A.R.M.). Please note that this additional aspect of the training must be done in the office due to the use of the EEG device.

All module sessions, biofeedback sessions, and coaching sessions are covered by all insurances accepted by Thiel Mental Health Services.
